When we are thriving, our work shows it! Use this list to check in with yourself. Then, as a leader, consider how each of your team members would respond to these questions:
- How is my own energy/vitality? Am I entering into each day rested, nourished, focused, and energized by my work?
- Do I have the resources I need to excel in my role? Am I supported in the ways I need in order to do my very best, and set up for success?
- Is my relationship with my boss positively energizing for me? Do I look forward to time with my boss, get the help I need and learn from them?
- Are the relationships with the people I work most with positive, mutually engaging and supportive? Do I feel included and valued?
- Am I getting better every day? Am I advancing in my expertise and gaining ground through my efforts?
- Do I feel seen, heard and respected for my contributions? Am I praised for my work in ways that are meaningful to me, and by whom?
- Am I fairly rewarded for my efforts and results? Does it feel reasonable and equitable to me?
- Am I feeling hopeful about the path ahead for me at work? What is giving me confidence in the opportunities to come?
- Do I find myself drawn to going above and beyond? What inspires me to do more from a place of wanting to vs having to?
What’s the one thing on this list that matters most to you right now? What’s the goal that would help you and what’s one action you can take to move forward? Bonus: think of one action you can take to lift up someone else on your team and go do it! When you support thriving for others the impact on yourself is powerful too.
